How to: Knotted Turban
by Alise
A turban-headband can immediately make your outfit feel more laid-back and earthy. With only a few steps to make one, these accessories can work for any season! For summer: a bright floral pattern, for fall: a sophisticated jersey knit, and for winter: a knitted or woven fabric that could double up as a way to keep warm!
Step 1:
Take a tape measure and find the circumference of your head. Take that number, add between 2-3 inches, and use that number for the length of your fabric piece (Mine was 22" *measure around my head* + 2" *extra for knot* = 24" length). Then, depending on how thick you want your headband to be, measure that out to make the width of your headband (I chose about 4" wide). Cut your fabric to come out with a strip like this:
Step 2:
Taking your strip of fabric with the right sides facing each other, simply tie a not.
It should look something like this:
Step 3:
Now, make sure the ends of the piece are matched up, with the right sides of the fabric facing each other.
Step 4:
Sew the edges together using either a sewing machine or serger. The seam should look like this, turned inside out.
Step 5:
Now, a finished turban you have!
And voilĂ !

White Out
by Paige
Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day?! I love it when in the midst of the grueling and unbearable heat of the summer, you can simply slip on a little sundress and away you go. No hassle, and with it being such an easy breezy style, a number of accessories can go with it (Vests, jean jackets, loose tee's, scarfs etc.)! I paired my crocheted shift dress with a grey leather vest, to bring a little bit of edge to the outfit, while still keeping a laid back feel with simple jewelry!

Wild Thing

I love the feeling of typing on a keyboard again... it's been a crazy couple of months and I was unable to be a part of the blogo'sphere as of just recently. My fashionista in crime, the gorgeous Miss Alise, has done a fabulous job of updating our blog and I'm so proud of her for gaining all the lovely new followers! I hope to be able to finally become fully emerged into the wonderful world of fashion once more. Here's just a summery update of what I'm currently loving: interesting shorts and a bright top!

Summer Breeze
by Alise
I would usually be the last person to be seen in pants or jeans. I've never found a pair that are truly comfortable or flattering on me, I lean more towards skirts and dresses. BUT, just recently I was attracted to the floral pattern on these bell-bottomed trousers. They were so cute I drove myself to try them on..and what do you know, I ended up loving them! Although pants aren't my thing, I never thought outside the box enough to think of trying out per say a different style and material! If you don't find comfort in a certain item of clothing, try different styles and prints, and you could find your match! Never did I think that my most recent purchase would be a pair of pants! I'm obsessed with the 70's inspired high-waisted and very wide pant, and what could be more perfect for a chilly summer day or the fall time!

Go Retro
by Alise
Obviously, I cannot afford to sport such an outfit, but a girl can dream right?! My favorite thing about fashion is that their are very few rules to it..and those rules are meant to be broken! Mixing different styles can add a whole new element to your outfit and make it something unique and unusual. All of these pieces stood out to me individually and although pairing them together might of looked weird at first, adding the right accessories can totally give off a new vibe! (I'll be thinking about those vintage Chanel earrings for days...)

It's simply incredible how fast time flies in the summertime, June especially. I have been currently spending almost everyday in the Utah sunshine, which has been nothing but wonderful! It's a bittersweet feeling- summer break is passing by so suddenly, but I'm still simultaneously looking forward to the upcoming, bright, months. Anyways, these are some items that I have been using and sporting religiously throughout this month of June. I'm sure I will continue to adore these throughout this entire season of sunshine!!
